What James Island does to a window
James Island is surrounded by the Ashley River, the Stono River, Charleston Harbor and James Island Creek, and Folly Beach sits at its ocean end. Homes on the water at Harbor View, Stiles Point, Stono Shores, Lighthouse Point and along the creek take a damp salt haze every morning that leaves a gray film on the water side of the house, and a nor'easter or a fall storm pushes a hard salt line onto the glass that rain does not rinse off. On Folly the oceanfront homes along Arctic and Ashley Avenues take spray straight off the Atlantic and dry a white film within a week.
Inland the island is live oaks. Riverland Terrace, Country Club and the older streets off Maybank Highway and Fort Johnson Road sit under a canopy that drops pollen for six weeks each spring and tannin after every rain for the rest of the year, and the deep shade keeps north-facing glass damp enough for mildew in the corners of the frames. Well-water sprinklers on the older lots leave orange iron streaks along the lower panes, and the newer streets off Folly Road and in Bayview Farms still carry construction dust. On Folly, blowing sand scratches the lower panes and the rental turnover means porch glass never sees a proper cleaning.
Oceanfront homes on Folly Beach and water-front homes at Harbor View, Stiles Point, Stono Shores and Lighthouse Point do best every two months. Homes inland under the oaks in Riverland Terrace and Country Club do well quarterly, with the inside glass done once a year either way. How often should windows be cleaned in James Island?

Do you work in the gated communities?

Can you remove hard water spots from sprinklers?
In most cases, yes. Mineral spots from sprinkler overspray need a dedicated treatment rather than regular cleaning. Tell us about them on the quote form and we will look at them on the first visit.
